Gymea Gazette

July / August Article

Congratulations are extended to Brian Wye for his continued selection in the Zone 13 Senior Side and further kudos to him on being selected in the Zone Team for the State Championships to be held in Wagga Wagga commencing 20th July.

With the pennant season now over, it is pleasing to report that our grade 3 team performed admirably, in trying conditions, in their play-off. Although disappointed at not achieving a Zone Flag, it augurs well for the 2011 season.

The Major Pairs final John Kenny and Peter Wright prevailed with a well deserved victory over Jeff Green and Jason Stretton.

The final of the Minor Singles between Dave Brown and Alan Trevithick was played on Sunday 27th June. Dave prevailed 31-17. I take this opportunity to wish Dave the very best in his move to new surroundings in Kiama.

Also that day Brad Ingham and David Hartman won the Zone 13 Reserve Pairs defeating a South Hurstville team 28-19. This is a great achievement for both men and means that they will now be off to Avoca Beach in September to play for a State Title.

The Minor Pairs championship have commenced and entries are now being accepted for the Club Triples Championship.

Annual Presentation Night :
It’s pleasing to report that Peter Cobcroft was announced as our ”2010 Pennant Player of the Year”. This is a fitting reward for his determination, ability and efforts during the Pennant Season.
Grade Winners were:
Grade 1 — Rick Malin
Grade 3 — Peter Cobcroft
Grade 4 — Greg Letch,
      Rummy Cutmore and Lee Armour
Grade 5 — Andrew Harker,
      Les Green and Alan Trevithick
Grade 6—David Hartman
Grade 7—Howard Russell

Best Team Award:
Les Holt, Ron Vincent, Howard Russell & Ron Garrod with 9 victories out of 10 games.

It gives me much pleasure to report that Koree Pule has been selected to represent Zone 13 Juniors 7 a side Team in the State Championships to be played at Port Macquarie 14th, 15th August. On behalf of all the members I wish Koree good luck and good bowling.

For some time now we have been looking at ways to improve our bowling attendances, on all days, and as a result I invite you to advise us of any thoughts or ideas that you may have that could assist us in achieving these objectives. All input will be most welcomed and treated confidentially if so required.
